James Cook University was founded in 1970, formerly known as Townsville College, University of Queensland. It is a leading research-oriented public university in the field of tropical research. The university is named after the renowned navigator and explorer Captain James Cook, with the aim of continuing the spirit of the captain, encouraging and supporting world-class research and exploration to address the challenges faced by tropical regions worldwide.

Universities have unique advantages in teaching and research, with four campuses located in two different countries: Cairns in North Queensland, Townsville, Brisbane, and Singapore. James Cook University Singapore, founded in 2003, was awarded the EduTrust Star certification by the Singapore government in 2015, becoming the first non-governmental institution in Singapore to receive this honor. The certification was successfully renewed in 2019 and renewed again in 2023.

The academic degrees awarded by the Singapore campus are identical to those of the Australian campus and are recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education. After successfully completing their studies, students can obtain certification from the China (Ministry of Education) Study Abroad Service Center for this degree.

1. Student support and employment guidance

With the concept of "student first", James Cook University Singapore Campus provides comprehensive services to support students' learning.

The student affairs department of the university is able to provide advice and counseling services to all students, and a new student ambassador department was established in 2020. The student ambassador is the first contact person for students in university, responsible for fully understanding and following up on the learning and living conditions of each student, monitoring their attendance rate and exam pass rate, and other campus information.

In addition, at James Cook University Singapore campus, the Student Employment Center is always ready to assist graduating students in preparing for employment and organizes three campus job fairs annually.

2. Graduates

James Cook University regularly holds alumni events.

To help previous graduates establish a network of relationships and enhance alumni connections, the university has launched the James Cook University Chinese Alumni Association mini program and formed the Chinese Alumni Association.
